This fabric is a copy of the pattern found in the skirt of a single breasted jean frock coat worn by First Sergeant Dixon Conn at the Battle of Malvern Hill. The original garment is housed at the North Carolina Museum of history accession number 65.78.1 The image below is from the original garment.
We have brightened up the colors and put back the colors that are almost gone in the original. The fugitive orange-red of the original is now only a shadow in the pattern but we have brought it back to what it may have looked like.
